Work Slightly
Slightly — app and website
A handmade marketplace: many studios, one basket and one payment, plus a creator panel and an admin panel. Shop, interface, frontend and backend
Handmade goods from many studios in one basket
Slightly is a marketplace for handmade goods. Shoppers browse the work of potters, candle makers, carpenters, weavers and jewellers, put pieces from several makers into one basket and pay once. Each studio gets its own part of the order and ships its own parcel.
We designed and built everything from scratch: the shop for buyers, the creator panel and the platform admin panel. The shop is calm and photo-led, because the objects should speak for themselves.
All data in the screenshots, from studios and products to orders and buyers, is sample data, and the product pictures are visualisations prepared for this presentation.
For buyers: a shop where you can see the people
The home page leads straight to the work. The catalogue has categories, search and filters, and every product page shows which studio the piece comes from. A studio page tells the maker's story and gathers all their work in one place.
Shopping is just as comfortable on a computer as on a phone. The basket groups items by studio, and checkout is two short steps: recipient details and payment by card or BLIK.
Creator panel: your own studio without the tech
Makers add products with photos, a price and stock levels, see the orders waiting to be packed and enter the tracking number in one move. Returns and cases have their own tab, so the whole studio fits in one place.
Admin panel: the whole platform on one dashboard
The platform owner approves new studios and products and sees orders and buyer cases that need attention from a single dashboard.
Technologies
The web app runs on Next.js, React and TypeScript, and the back end is written in Python (FastAPI) with a PostgreSQL database. Payments are handled by Stripe Connect, and everything runs in Docker containers.
Scope of work and result
We did the interface design, frontend and backend, the shop, the creator panel and the admin panel, as well as support for many studios in one basket with payments.
The result: a buyer pays once for pieces from several studios, a maker runs their own shop without technical know-how, and the platform owner has everything in one panel.
